CUSTOMS
Few government agencies have missions as challenging as customs organizations. With global trade flows of $18 billion a year, by air, sea, rail, highway and other modes, customs agencies are challenged with finding and blocking illegal goods and with identifying violators, without slowing the vital flows of goods and people. Mobile device data is a critical source of information and evidence for customs investigators, and many agencies rely on MSAB tools to fulfill their missions. To recover data from devices quickly and completely, in a forensically sound way, on the front lines, not just in a lab.

BORDER CONTROL
The volume of international migration flows has increased steadily over the last 20 years, reaching 258 million in 2017, up from 173 million in 2000, according to the United Nations. These flows have profoundly challenged border control organizations across the globe. Border control officials are responsible for maintaining control and order, for confirming identities and countries of origin, and for prohibiting the entry of criminals, extremists and others. In many cases, accessing data on mobile phones is one of the most accurate methods for confirming identities and fulfilling their mission.

CORRECTIONS
Contraband mobile phones and other devices (including drones) are major challenges for many correctional organizations today. Phones are used to enable further crime, to coordinate gang activities, and to facilitate escape attempts and even attacks on staff. Drones are often used to smuggle contraband into facilities. . All of these mobile devices contain critical evidence and intelligence needed by corrections officials to protect lives and maintain order. . But today, many correctional facilities send recovered mobile devices to a forensic lab, often geographically distant from the facilities, creating backlogs and processing delays.

LAW ENFORCEMENT
The vast majority (91%) of law enforcement officials surveyed recently by MSAB said their mobile forensic operations need improvement. They need better forensic tools, more trained specialists, easier-to-use tools, faster data recovery and analysis, and access to the newest mobile devices and apps, even as phone manufacturers step up their encryption and security measures. MSAB is dedicated to meeting these challenges for law enforcement, and we’re innovating constantly to support more devices and apps (now over 25,000), to recover more data from every device, and to make the analysis as fast and easy as possible

CRIME SCENES
"The mobile phone is probably the single most important piece of evidence you will find at a crime scene today.” That statement was made by former FBI Director James Comey in 2016, and 82% of police officers surveyed by MSAB agreed. And more than ever, the data on recovered mobile phones needs to be recovered quickly, so it can be extracted and converted to actionable intelligence and forensically sound evidence. MSAB has pioneered technologies that bring mobile forensics capabilities to the frontlines, to assist those in the field, and we’re continuing to innovate.

MILITARY
On battlefields and in conflict zones across the world, military service members need mobile forensics tools as part of their equipment. Recovered mobile devices are critical sources of intelligence, and the fastest possible extraction and analysis of data is vital to saving lives and achieving success. In addition to those capabilities, military service members need rugged and lightweight tools that can stand up in demanding physical conditions. MSAB is a primary provider of these tools, and we’re working constantly to develop newer and better ones.
