Positive news for investigators:

Analyse more data in less time with Nuix and MSAB integration

Nuix and MSAB have developed a new way to help investigators save time in their investigations by making it easier to transfer mobile device data from MSAB products – XRY mobile data extraction software & XAMN mobile forensic data analysis software – into Nuix products for analysis.

This new level of integration between Nuix and XAMN means that exporting mobile device data from XAMN and importing it into Nuix Workstation has never been easier. This will enable you to utilise the sophisticated analytical and review features of Nuix to identify device attribution and quickly find answers to the “who, what, when, where, why and how?” questions of any investigation.

The improved integration allows investigations to be started in XAMN for quick review and filtering of mobile data and then transferred to Nuix for wider investigations. All tags that have been created in XAMN are now transferred to Nuix. This seamless integration allows users to quickly see which artefacts were tagged as ‘important’ or ‘worth a look’ when the data was initially reviewed in XAMN.

How it works

In XAMN you’ll see a new ‘export to Nuix’ button which will allow users to export relevant data into a new ‘.msabnuix’ container file.

This container file will include the combined mobile device data and user- created tags added by an investigator as part of the initial analysis, with future releases building on this with additional enrichment.

Nuix will automatically recognise the new ‘.msabnuix’ file and will process its contents combining all the mobile device data together with user-created tags ready for user analysis.

You now have access to the filtered mobile device data, which can be processed, searched and reviewed in Nuix.

As well as supporting mobile phone data from XRY and other mobile forensic extraction tools, you have the added option of Nuix imager mobile reads, physical reads, iTunes backups and Android ADB backups.

As Nuix and MSAB continue to work in partnership together, we plan to add new capabilities to further streamline and simplify the processing and analysis of mobile device data.
