File content viewers
XAMN Pro license required.
To open the Viewer in a new tab, in the right-click menu select Show in a new tab.
To get more workspace for the panes you are using at the moment, you can collapse panes that you are not using. Use the expand and collapse buttons
.
Open the audio player to analyze audio content. Click the three dots in the player to save the audio file, launch the file in another app, examine the data in source mode, or change the default audio player settings.
Listen to audio content
- In the Filters pane, under Categories, select Files & Media and click Audio.
- In the Artifacts Pane, select an artifact that contains audio content.
- In the Details Pane, expand the Audio player to automatically play the audio content.

Open the DOCX viewer to review content in DOCX files, created in Microsoft Word.
- In the Artifacts pane, select a DOCX file artifact.
- In the Details pane, click the arrow next to the DOCX viewer heading to expand it.
- To open the DOCX viewer in a new tab, click More options
and select Show in a new tab.
If your artifacts contain drone flight data, you can view the visualized drone flight in a separate Drone tab. In the separate Drone tab, you can visualize extracted data, including flight speed, altitude, and route.
View drone flight data
- In the Filters pane, under Categories, select Locations.
- Select an artifact with drone flight data. In the Details pane, you can now view the drone flight information.
Open the separate Drone tab
The Drone tab includes the following functions:
- Play the drone flight and follow the location of the drone in the map. You can play the drone flight in real-time, or fast by moving the slider on the lower left. Additionally, you can zoom in and out the geographic location.
- Export drone route to Google Earth and follow the location of the drone in Google Earth.
- With Special events on the upper left, you can choose an event, like flight start, or flight stop. The drone flight viewer will jump to the selected drone flight event, and its geographic location.
To add different gauges, on the top right, select Add gauge
. From the Add gauge menu, you can add many different gauges to analyze flight data. With the gauges, you can measure different properties for the device parts:
- Remote Control
- Motor
- Battery
- GPS
To add charts, on the lower right, click the Add charts button
. From the Add charts menu, you can add many different charts to analyze the flight data. You can add charts for the same device parts that you can measure properties for.
Export the drone route to Google Earth
- In the Drone tab, in the upper right, click the Export button.
- In the Drone export dialog, select the output format Google Earth.
- Select the Opening option File(s).
- Browse to the location where you want to save your files.
- Click Export.
- Open the file with Google Earth. If Google Earth is not available on your computer, download Google Earth Pro to view the exported drone route.
In the Details Pane, you can see email artifacts in
- HTML mode
- Text mode
- Source mode
- To see emails as a formatted HTML page, click HTML.
- To see emails as unformatted text, click Text.
- To see emails as HTML source code, click Source.
Tip: In a similar manner, you can choose how to show HTML artifacts in some of the export file formats.
If an artifact contains location data, you can automatically see the geographic location in a map in the Details pane.
- To show the location in the middle of the map, click the focus button
. - To zoom in and out, click the plus button
and minus button
. - To scroll the map, drag the map with the mouse.
You can also use the arrow buttons. - To save the map as a picture file (.png), click the screen capture button
and select Save screen capture.
To see location data in the Geographic Viewer, you must have an internet connection.
You can disable Geographic Viewer in the program Options.
In the Details Pane, you can view some artifacts in an HTML viewer. Click the expand button to open the HTML viewer.

The JSON Viewer shows contents of JavaScript Object Notation (.json) files.
- In the Artifacts pane, click a JSON artifact.
- In the Details pane, click the JSON Viewer drop-down arrow.
You can view PDFs in the Details pane. Do the following:
- In the Artifacts pane, select a PDF artifact.
- In the Details pane, click the PDF viewer drop-down arrow.
From the Details pane, you can open a picture in a new and re-sizable window.
- To open a picture in the Picture viewer:
- To rotate the picture counter-clockwise, click the rotate button
. - To zoom in and out, click the zoom button
, and then drag the zoom slider. - To reset the zoom level and change the picture size to fit the window, click the resize button
. - To save the picture, click the Save button.
Pin the Picture Viewer
In the List, Column, and Gallery views, you can pin the Picture viewer to more easily click through pictures.
- Double-click a picture in the artifacts pane to open the Picture viewer.
You can move the Picture viewer to a second screen. - Click the Pin button in the Picture viewer. You can now click through pictures and view them in the Picture viewer.

XAMN has a QR decoder that shows the information in QR code image files. Any decoded information is automatically added to Examiner Notes in the Details pane.

The SQLite Viewer shows detailed information about SQL database artifacts, including live and deleted records. SQLite Viewer includes Hex viewer to see how data in hexadecimal format relates to the memory address register.
Find all database artifacts
- In the Categories filter, under Files & media, click Databases.
Open the SQLite viewer
- In the Artifacts pane, click an SQLite database artifact.
- In the Details pane, click the SQLite viewer drop-down arrow.
- To see deleted records in red color, select the Show deleted rows check box.
- To examine the value of a data cell further, select the cell and click Examine in Source mode
. To open the Hex viewer, click the More options button
in the top right corner of the SQLite viewer and select Examine in Hex viewer..Tip: Click the data in the SQLite data table and see the corresponding hex data in the open Hex viewer, highlighted in blue.
- To export the SQLite database records, click the Export button
. The records are exported as CSV files. - To open the SQLite viewer in a separate tab, click the More info button
and select Show in a new tab.
The Text File Viewer shows the contents of text files (.txt) as plain text.
- In the Artifacts pane, select a text file artifact.
- In the Details pane, click the Text VIEWER drop-down arrow.
A track is one or more positions, track points, connected to a drive. When you select a track artifact, the Vehicle track point viewer is shown. It contains a list of the track points, including time stamps, and a map that displays the route of the track.
Select a track point in the list to show the vehicle's position at that time on the map.
When a track point is selected, you can select and hold the Down arrow key to play through the track and show on the map how the vehicle moved.

With the Video Player you can play videos and take pictures of the video content.
Open the Video Player
- In the Artifacts Pane, click Files>Videos.
- In the Details Pane, click the Video Player drop-down arrow.
To take pictures of the video content, click the camera button
. Next, browse to the folder where you want to save the picture, and click Save.

Open the XLSX viewer to review the content of XLSX files, created in Microsoft Word.
- In the Artifacts pane, select a XLSX file artifact.
- In the Details pane, click the arrow next to the XLSX viewer heading to expand it.
- To open the XLSX viewer in a new tab, click More options
and select Show in a new tab.

The XML Viewer shows contents of XML files and Property List files (.plist). Open the XML Viewer in a new tab to search, expand, and collapse the content.

- In the Artifacts pane, click an XML or Property List artifact.
- In the Details pane, click the XML VIEWER drop-down arrow.
