Track the case review progress

When case review tracking is enabled, you can easily see if an artifact within a case has been viewed or not. Case review tracking applies when viewing artifacts within a case, not when you open an individual data source that is not within a case.

The artifacts that have not been viewed yet are indicated with a blue vertical line on the left side of the artifact in the List, Column, Gallery, Conversation, and Connection views in the Artifacts pane. The File tree and Chat views do not indicate which artifacts that have been viewed.

The case review tracking gives a cumulative view for all users who have been working on the case. It does not reflect what the current user has viewed or not.

The case review tracking is enabled by default. The case review setting is found in Options, under General. See Options and settings for more details.

Information on the viewing of artifacts can be found in the audit log, for example when and by whom the artifact was viewed.

Note: If a Project VIC category is manually applied to an artifact, this artifact is marked as reviewed. See Apply Project VIC grading for more details.

Procedures

Filter artifacts based on if they are viewed

The case review tracking makes it possible to show or hide artifacts based on if they have been viewed.

The three available options are:

  • Include viewed artifacts - All artifacts are shown regardless of if they are viewed or not.
  • Hide viewed artifacts - Only artifacts that have not been viewed are shown.
  • Show only viewed artifacts - Only artifacts that have been viewed are shown.

To filter artifacts based on the case review tracking information

  1. On the ribbon, click Case review .
  2. From the dropdown menu, select the appropriate option to include, hide, or show only viewed artifacts.

Manually set artifacts as viewed or unviewed

You can manually set artifacts as viewed or unviewed. This can be done for maximum 400 artifacts at a time.

  • Select artifacts.
  • Right-click and select Set as viewed or Set as unviewed.

The number shown within parentheses states the number of artifacts that are affected if you select that option.
