Manage quick views

Quick views make it possible for you to quickly find artifacts based on a specific parameter and show them in a way that is suitable for that selection of artifacts. There are built-in Quick views to show for example artifacts from last week, pictures, conversations, or artifacts with location information. With XAMN Pro, you can also set up your own Quick views.

A Quick view includes:

  • The type of view, for example Column view or Gallery view.
  • The filter settings, including any filters added to the Filter pane and the selections made in those filters.

The Quick views are displayed and selectable from the Investigate pane on the Overview page. When you click a Quick view in the Investigate pane, a new work tab is opened with the view and filters already set. To open a new work tab that contains all artifacts in the case or file, select the All artifacts Quick view.

You can select to apply a Quick view in the tab you are working in. To do that, use the drop-down menu at the top of the Filters pane to select the Quick view to apply.

Note: Some settings in the Gallery view are not stored in Quick views. Instead, XAMN remembers the most recently used settings and uses that as the default. This is true for the following settings: Layout (that is Scroll, Slideshow, or Pages), Picture size, Sort by, and Sort order.

Prerequisites

  • Creating, importing, and exporting Quick views, and selecting what Quick views to show requires XAMN Pro.
