Navigate in XAMN

In this section, you'll find overviews of the ribbon menu and the different tabs in XAMN, as well as information on how to make the best use of your monitors.

Ribbon menu, standard The ribbon menu at the top of the main XAMN window, with the buttons from which you access a lot of the functionality. Menu overview
Case tab, Overview page This is the default view when you open a case. The Overview page gives you a quick overview of the case, with the case details, a list of the included data sources, and links to quickly view the artifacts of interest. Overview page
Case tab, Data sources page The Data sources page displays details for each data source. This is where you can activate new data sources that have been added to your case or deactivate existing ones. Manage data sources

Note: When you open an individual .xry file and not a case, the File tab is opened instead of the Case tab. The content on the File tab corresponds to the Data sources page.

Procedures

Organize your XAMN workspace

Work with multiple windows or monitors to analyze an extraction or a case from more than one perspective at the same time.

  • To disconnect a tab from the main window and show the tab contents in a new window, simply drag the tab from its position.
  • To view two windows side by side on one monitor, select the first window and select the Windows logo+Left arrow keys. Then select the other window and select the Windows logo+Right arrow keys.
  • To connect a disconnected tab back to the main window, click the Dock button .
  • To rename a tab, double-click it and enter the new name.
  • To get more workspace for the panes you are using at the moment, you can collapse panes that you are not using. Use the Expand and Collapse buttons .
